Bezos and Sánchez’s Guest’s Hotels

Natali Spasova, Staff Writer

Let’s be honest: if you felt a shift in the Earth’s gravitational pull this week, it’s probably because the world’s richest man just landed in Venice with his glittering entourage. Yes, Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez are reportedly tying the knot in one of the most romantic cities on the planet—Venice. Because when you’re worth $200 billion, a destination wedding means owning the destination. And while the couple hasn’t released an official guest list or itinerary (we’re still waiting on our invite, thanks), the buzz around town says their friends aren’t exactly slumming it.

Venice’s most exclusive hotels are practically glowing under the weight of Hollywood, tech, and billionaire royalty. So, if you’re wondering where the Clooneys, Di Caprios, and maybe even the Oprahs might be sipping their Aperol Spritzes in Venice, here are the hotels for Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding guests.

Aman Venice

This one’s a no-brainer. Bezos famously rented out the Aman Venice for his 2021 birthday bash, and if there’s one place in Venice where you can land a helicopter on the lawn (okay, almost), it’s here. It is set in a 16th-century palazzo on the Grand Canal, and its pure old-world glamour and quiet luxury. It has only 24 suites, so it’s not exactly built for crowds, which makes it perfect for the likes of Bill Gates or Beyoncé.

You can look forward to frescoed ceilings, silk wall coverings, and more antique chandeliers than you can count. There’s also a discreet spa tucked away in the mezzanine. And a private garden that is one of the largest in the city. The in-house Arva restaurant delivers seasonal Venetian fare without fuss. Unless your fuss includes a 1998 Barolo delivered by gondola. For Jeff and Lauren’s wedding guests, it probably does.

Hotel Danieli

Old Hollywood would feel right at home here. And so would anyone with a preference for sweeping staircases, Murano glass chandeliers, and rooms that look like they came out of a Visconti film. The 204-room Hotel Danieli is one of Venice’s grand dames. It is located right by the Bridge of Sighs across three inter-connecting palaces that date back to 14th, 19th and 20th centuries. And it’s rumored that this is where some of the old guard might be checking in. The rooftop Terrazza Danieli serves up haute cuisine and unique cocktails, and you also have Bar Dandolo for a grand atmosphere and afternoon tea. Of course, the concierge can even arrange a midnight gondola serenade if you’re feeling particularly cinematic. Spa? Not exactly, but they offer an in-room spa in their velvet-draped rooms that might just be indulgent enough.

Belmond Hotel Cipriani

Over on Giudecca Island, just a quick boat ride from the main drag, the Belmond Cipriani is basically Venice’s playground for the international elite. The vibe here is rich, relaxed, and a little rakish—just how we imagine George and Amal like it. (They’re regulars, naturally.) There are 96 rooms and suites, many with private balconies and lagoon views, but the real flex is the Olympic-sized saltwater pool—the only one of its kind in Venice. The Cipriani also has a Casanova Wellness Centre for facials and massages between Prosecco rounds, and a Michelin-starred (Oro) restaurant for when you’re peckish after your yacht ride. This is where you’ll spot the fashion crowd, studio heads, and anyone whose private jet has its own name.

The Gritti Palace

If you prefer your luxury served with a little literature, the Gritti Palace is your scene. What was once home to a Venetian Doge, now is a home to velvet, brocade, and all the Hemingway vibes you can handle. This 82-room palazzo is right on the Grand Canal with postcard views of Santa Maria della Salute. And the elegance here is dialed all the way up, with antiques that are actually antique, and a culinary school (the Gritti Epicurean School) in case you want to learn how to make risotto like a royal. The spa is a petite Sisley affair, and the Riva Lounge terrace is where champagne flutes clink as the sun sets behind centuries of history. Perfect for those who want to dress like it’s the Met Gala and drink like it’s Carnival. And an ideal hotel for Jeff and Lauren’s wedding guests.

St. Regis Venice

Last but not least, the St. Regis Venice brings a bold, contemporary edge to the city’s otherwise baroque lineup. It was recently renovated, and now this 169-room hotel has floor-to-ceiling windows that open straight onto the Grand Canal and interiors that mix Murano glass with avant-garde art. It’s where the younger crowd—or at least the TikTok generation of billionaires—might feel most at home. The spa is sleek and understated, with more hydration therapy than scented candles, and the Gio’s Restaurant & Terrace serves elevated Italian cuisine with a lively crowd and killer spritzes. If you see someone who looks like they just sold their startup for a billion, they probably did. And there’s a good chance they’re invited to Jeff and Lauren’s wedding, and are staying at this hotel.
